Rochester Area Neighborhood House Taking Applications for Junior Ambassador Program

Rochester Area Neighborhood House, a private, non-profit agency dedicated to assisting the community during times of hardship, is currently in the process of accepting applications for their Junior Ambassador Program.  Each year, Neighborhood House is represented throughout the service area by a Junior Ambassador who oversees an Executive Youth Board. 

 

In an effort to help prepare area youth to become future leaders and responsible, caring citizens, the Rochester Area Neighborhood House offers local students the opportunity to apply for the position of Junior Ambassador or to sit on their Executive Youth BoardIn conjunction with the Junior Ambassador, this board is responsible for setting the agenda for the Neighborhood House Youth Committee.  Neighborhood House is seeking high school students in the greater Rochester community who are willing to serve a one year term in a youth leadership capacity within the Neighborhood House organization.

The following schools will each have one representative on the Executive Youth Board:

            * Rochester High School

            * Adams High School

            * Stoney Creek High School

            * Avondale High School

            * At-Large (any High School within the Neighborhood House service area)

 

All positions offer students the opportunity to gain effective communication skills and experience, increase marketability for college preparation and future employment opportunities, pursue professional employment opportunities that require leadership skills and experience, obtain the skill development necessary to work in a leadership role, and have the opportunity to apply for a college scholarship.

 

The selected candidates will collaborate with the Neighborhood House executive director, Board of Directors, other staff, and volunteers in an effort to gain experience in the areas of civic responsibility, community service, public speaking, fundraising, marketing, and fund development.  Additionally, the students will have the opportunity to participate in Neighborhood House and community related events throughout the year.    

 

Application packets are available at most local schools, the Neighborhood House website www.ranh.org, or at the Neighborhood House main office at 1234 Inglewood in Rochester.  They will be accepted through April 30th.

 

Rochester Area Neighborhood House is a private, non-profit human service organization that was founded by communities of faith in 1968.  Neighborhood House has grown over the years and currently services any qualifying families in need from Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township and Addison Township. 

 

The agency mission is to assist the community during times of hardship, partnering with the community and other social service providers to help struggling individuals and families move toward self sufficiency.   Neighborhood House works from a holistic model providing emergency financial assistance, counseling, job coaching, budget assistance, transportation, food assistance, clothing assistance and more to families in our service area.  The community is invited to call 248-651-5836 to receive more information about the Junior Ambassador Program or other programs provided by Neighborhood House.
