5 Dates to Remember This School Year in Rochester

It's almost time for your kids to strap on their backpacks, lace up their new shoes, sharpen their pencils and head back to school. 

Here are five dates Rochester Community Schools parents should circle on your calendar for the few couple of months of the new school year so your kid won't miss his/her first day of school and you won't forget to arrange day care on their days off!

1. Sept. 3 — First Day of School 
Sept. 3 will be a half-day for K-5 students and a full day for 6-12 students.

2. Oct. 4 — NO SCHOOL
K-12 classes will not be held on Oct. 4 for professional development. 

3. Oct. 9, Oct. 17 — Evening Conferences (6-8); Oct. 10, Oct. 16 — Evening Conferences (9-12)

4. Nov. 1 — End of First Marking Period

5. Nov. 4 — NO SCHOOL
Classes will not be held on Nov. 4 because of teacher records day.
