The community is invited as Crittenton Home Care honors local veterans on November 8 with a free viewing “From the Beaches of Normandy to the Jungles of Vietnam” documentary film. Guests will also have the chance to view the traveling Michigan Vietnam Veteran Wall.

The Chapter 154 Color Guard will present the flags prior to each showing and medals will be presented to all veterans in attendance. Refreshments will be served. This event is FREE of charge and open to the public. All veterans are welcome and encouraged to bring family and friends.

This is the second year that Crittenton Home Care has sponsored the Veteran’s Celebration in collaboration with American House Senior Living Communities. New this year, veterans will have the opportunity to have their portrait taken in uniform compliments of Waterhouse Photography. Photos will be $20 and available prior to each showing of the film. Those who participate will receive a 4x6 and 8x10 photograph.

Doors will open for the first performance at 12:15 p.m. as the American House Choir performs patriotic songs and entertainment. At 12:45 p.m. the medals will be presented to all veterans in attendance. The film screening will begin at 1 p.m.

The second showing and performance will begin at 3:15 p.m. with the American House Choir followed by 3:45 p.m. medal presentations. The second film screening will begin at 4 p.m.

This event had a large attendance in its first year and is expected to increase this year. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance as seating is limited. Those interested in having a portrait taken by Waterhouse Photography are also encouraged to register with the photo studio prior to the event to ensure an available time slot.
