Remember when rochester had multiple location to launch hot air balloons from? I was too little but remember them across the street at the brooklands before it was developed as it was... this was inspired by a photo taken in the 70's at Rochester Park/ Adjacent baseball field. Thanks to David Gifford/ RHPL and Mr. Lytle for supplying me the postcard I was inspired by.

We lived in Cumberland Hills before it was built up and the balloons would land in the lots behind us - it was always an exciting event and one my sons remember.

The balloons coming over especially on a warm summer late afternoon/early evening were really a sight to behold--sometimes, in driving the area, could "track" them and actually catch up to where they were landing---It was colorful, unique and something that is gone now from our immediate area--too bad.

Loved to hear that sound of the heater on a summer night! We loved to track them as well from Christian Hills Sub to the North. Too bad the balloons disappeared as all the undeveloped land built up into subdivisions. Loads of memories...
