Where do you like to go to hear music outdoors in the summer? Here are many options in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township.
- When: 7:30-9 p.m. Thursdays June 21-July 26
- Where: Rochester Municipal Park
- Cost: Free
- Why go? Enjoy the scenery of downtown Rochester's park while hearing everything from French and Native American music (June 21) to Oldies (July 5).
Jazz in the Garden at Meadow Brook Hall
- When: 7-10 p.m. June 21 (George 'Sax' Benson), July 19 (Bob Mervak Trio), Aug. 15 (OU Jazz Quartet)
- Where: Meadow Brook Hall
- Cost: $30
- Why go? Enjoy live, cool jazz at a National Historic Landmark. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
- When: 6-8 p.m. Thursdays June 28-Aug. 30 (no concert planned July 5)
- Where: The Village of Rochester Hills
- Cost: Free
- Why go? Listen while you shop; listen while you dine outdoors — or just pack a blanket and chairs and listen.
Friday Nights Downtown in Auburn Hills
- When: 7-8:30 p.m. June 15 through Aug. 24 (no concert July 6)
- Where: Riverside Park, Downtown Auburn Hills
- Cost: Free
- Why go? Grab one of the grills in the park and sit back and relax for live music as your weekend begins.
Music at the Lake: Stony Creek Metropark
- When: 7:30 p.m. June 22, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3
- Where: Stony Creek Metropark
- Cost: The concerts are free, but there is a $5 daily admission to the park (unless you have a park pass)
- Why go: A concert on the beach? Why not?
- When: 7 p.m. June 22 and July 20
- Where: Bear Lake Nature Park (June 22) and Cranberry Lake Park (July 20)
- Cost: Free
- Why go: Enjoy a picnic on a Friday night at these natural sanctuaries in Oakland Township.
