Weekend Guide: Music in the Park, Movies in the Moonlight
Also on the schedule this weekend: Olympic-style bike races, the Farmers' Market and Rock N' Bowl.
Here's what's going on this weekend in Rochester and Rochester Hills.
If you haven't been able to catch a free concert at Municipal Park yet this year, head out Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to hear some rock and roll oldies presented by The Gang. The show is part of the Music in the Park series, presented by the Kiwanis Club of Rochester. Make sure to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Refreshments will be available.
Bring the whole family to Bloomer Park Friday to watch Olympic-style bike racing in action inside the Velodrome. The fun kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with tickets just $5 for adults and free for kids (with a paid adult admission). Tickets are for sale one hour before the event. A $5 per vehicle entry fee is required to enter Bloomer Park.
Head over to Classic Lanes at 7 p.m. this Friday for a chance to hear live music while you earn some strikes during glow bowling. The Burning Ponies from Oakland University will be providing the entertainment while Taco Supremes will be grilled up at discounted rates. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.
The Rochester Farmers' Market is back for the season, stocked with produce from the finest local farms and businesses. Stop in from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday to get your hands on some of the freshest ingredients around.
Looking for a chance to enjoy the outdoors while spending time with your family? Head over to the second week of the 'Movies in the Moonlight' festival this Saturday night where the featured film is Captain America. Pre-show entertainment begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Farmers' Market parking lot, with the movie starting at dusk. Admission is free, but guests should bring their own seating.
