Where is Your Favorite Place to See Fall Colors?
We're putting together a color tour guide; tell us where you go to see the red, orange and gold leaves of the season.
Before the leaves fall, turn brown and beg to be raked, they color the hillsides of Michigan's highways and the banks of the state's rivers with the colors of the season.
Where do you go to appreciate the colors of fall?
We're putting together a color tour of the state and need readers to help us map out the best locations.
Whether it's along M-22 in northern Michigan or on a wooded path in your own hometown, we are looking for color tour suggestions.
And feel free to share your photos here, too. Just click on "add your photos & video."
Do you have a favorite spot? Tell us about it!

The best and closest is a ride through Edward Hines Park.

A stroll through the Sugar Maple Trail at the Henry Ford Mansion right here in Dearborn is like being in a "Golden Sanctuary"

I may be biased, but I have to second this suggestion. The whole Henry Ford Estate and surrounding grounds are beautiful in the fall - or any season, for that matter!

I grew up in rural Shelby, nestled about halfway between Ludington and Muskegon on the west side of the state. Driving from there to Ludington (and further north) would annually yield the most gorgeous display of colors right along the highway. I live in Chicago now, and there isn't a fall that goes by that I don't miss that spectacular show.

I am partial to Ludington, MI - climb to the top of the Big Sable Lighthouse at the State Park for a breath-taking view.

Beth --
Ludington has been my home away from home since I was an infant. The view on top of the lighthouse is breathtaking any time of the year. Can't say I've been there in the fall, but I plan to someday! I was just up there a few weekends ago. Didn't have a chance to make it to the lighthouse, though, sadly.

For years I would consider a late-September drive north on I75 (as in, to the Soo!) as the best way to see a long stretch of color, but now, I have to say take Lakeshore from Holland (near the Holland State Park) to Grand Haven for a lovely colorfully bucolic cruise. Then, if you have the time and are so inclined, just keep heading north, to Traverse City, with stops at road and lakeside parks. If you start earliy enough, you'll reach TC in time for lunch and catch the afternoon version of the color tour on your way home.
