Welcome Back, Rochester: Here's What You Need to Know Today
Returning from a sunny three-day weekend is rough, so let us help you catch up: we'll tell you what you missed (a stolen sheep downtown, for starters) and what you have to look forward to this week (Paddlepalooza is Saturday).
Where have you been? Oh, wait! You've told us. Check out this map, where you're plotting where Rochester and Rochester Hills residents travel on long weekends like this one.
Missing sheep: A fiberglass sheep — one of two dozen on display around downtown Rochester as part of the Ewe Revue 2 — has disappeared. The sheep, wearing hockey skates, was called "Steve Hanson from Sheep Shot." It disappeared on Friday night and police are offering a reward for information leading to its return. Read all about it here.
Both councils meet: Rochester Hills City Council will hold a joint meeting with its Planning Commission at 7 tonight to discuss the 2012 Master Land Use Plan, the M-59 Corridor Plan and other goals and objectives. In Rochester, city councilmembers will take up commission appointments, special event permits and the 2012 Parks and Recreation Plan. That meeting is also at 7 p.m.
The weather: The heat and humidity of the weekend is expected to lift starting today. This week, temperatures will hover between 43 degrees (low Wednesday) and 83 degrees (high today). The weekend forecast looks sunny and 70-ish.
The weekend ahead: Paddlepalooza, the annual kayak and canoe adventure on the Clinton River, is planned for Saturday morning. Also, Saturday, there's a 5K Run/Walk for Meals on Wheels at the Older Persons' Commission.
