Updated: Woman Injured in Rochester Hills Crash in Stable Condition
A 21-year-old woman is recovering from serious injuries sustained Thursday in a two-vehicle crash near Auburn Road and Rochester Road.
A 21-year-old Troy woman who received serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Rochester Hills was listed in stable condition Saturday morning, according to hospital officials.
Megan Steeg, 21, of Troy, was driving west on Auburn Road about 10:12 a.m. Thursday when her 2004 Dodge Neon collided with a 2007 Jeep sport utility vehicle stopped for a light at Barclay Circle, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Steeg received serious injuries to her upper body and was transported by the Rochester Hills Fire Department to POH Regional Medical Center.
Sheriff's officials said the driver of the Jeep, Jeannine Phelan, 59, of Rochester Hills, received minor injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman on Saturday said Steeg is coming along well and is in stable condition. Pontiac's POH is Oakland County's only Level 2 Trauma Center, which specializes in treating patients with traumatic injuries.
A statement from the sheriff's office initially stated Steeg hadn't been wearing her seatbelt and struck the steering wheel with her body during the collision. The sheriff's office said Saturday that crash investigators later determined Steeg was wearing a seatbelt.
