Those are Fireworks, Not Gunshots, You'll Hear in Downtown Rochester Tonight
The city approved a special permit for a private fireworks ceremony Saturday night in conjunction with a wedding reception at the Royal Park Hotel.
Spread the word: there will be fireworks in downtown Rochester tonight.
Though it's not a public ceremony, city officials wanted to let residents know that it would be happening just incase they start to wonder what all of the commotion is about.
The show is scheduled for sometime after 10 p.m. tonight and will coincide with a wedding reception at the Royal Park Hotel. The fireworks will be launched from the corner of Second and Mill streets — the same area that is used for fireworks for the winter Fire & Ice Festival downtown.
Rochester City Councilmembers approved a Special Event Permit last week for the soon-to-be-married couple. The permit outlines the safety precautions for the show and also guarantees that the individuals will reimburse the city for the $300 cost to the fire department, which will be on safety standby during the event.
Want more public fireworks? The Festival of the Hills is planned for Wednesday at Borden Park.
