Rochester Hills student Owen Groesser made history — on the court and across Twitter feeds Wednesday.
Groesser, a middle school student with Down syndrome, made two sets of three-pointers in Van Hoosen Middle School's final home basketball game Wednesday, ESPN reported.
According to ESPN's ABC affiliate WXYZ TV, Channel 7, Groesser had not played basketball this season for his school.
But after entering late in the game, Groesser received a pass beyond the arc and sank a three-pointer to amazement from the crowd, according to ESPN. He made another three-pointer and finished with six points in approximately two minutes of playing time, the article said.

After the game, Groesser's friends and teammates launched a Twitter campaign called #GetOwenOnSportsCenter, which trended as highlights of the game spread on the web, according to ESPN.
Groesser's feats were highlighted on "SportsCenter's" Top-10 highlights Wednesday night.
His father, Chris, said in an ESPN interview Thursday that Groesser's coach is making arrangements for him to play in the team's final away game 5 p.m. today.

Fantastic performance by Owen and the students and staff that worked together to make this special moment happen. The smiles on the faces of Owen and his teammates tell a beautiful story.

I'd like to give some credit to Coach Jeff Howell at Van Hoosen who not only chose Owen to be the basketball teams manager but then dressed him for the Ruether game that allowed him to play.
Congratulations to Owen and Van Hoosen Middle School. Great stuff.
