Rochester Teachers to Demonstrate After School Today

Michigan Education Association calls for 'Day of Action.'

teachers will hold informational picketing demonstrations outside each school building for about 15 minutes after schools close today.

Doug Hill, president of the Rochester Education Association, confirmed the plan, which is part of the Michigan Education Association's "Day of Action."

Teachers from other school districts across Oakland County, including Birmingham, Ferndale, Troy, Berkley and Bloomfield Hills, plan to participate.

"The end of the school year is here, and Lansing politicians plan to spend the next few weeks working on legislation that will impact your students and your job," stated a call to action on the MEA website.

"We need to let our elected leaders know that we will hold them accountable – for previous votes to cut education funding and upcoming votes on tenure, collective bargaining, and more."
