Rochester Schools Closed Monday

A wintry mix that began Sunday night forced the district's first weather-related closing this year.

A Sunday night snowfall followed by early Monday morning rain resulted in the first "snow day" of the 2012-13 school year in Rochester.

The district announced the school closing, due to "hazardous conditions," around 5 a.m.

More than 75 school districts in southeast Michigan were closed Monday, according to various news reports.  Avondale Schools were also closed.
