Rochester Graduation Week in Review: Rate the Ceremonies at the New Venue
This was the first year for commencements at Ultimate Soccer; what did you think?
When Rochester Patch reported last fall that Rochester graduations would move from Meadow Brook to Ultimate Soccer in Pontiac, there were some concerns expressed from parents about the change in venue.
The new location saved the school district money, and took the potential for bad weather out of the equation (Meadow Brook is outdoors). The move to the arena also helped guarantee the dates — something Meadow Brook was not able to do.
And while some criticized the change as a break in tradition, others expressed their excitement to try something new.
Now that graduation week is over, we are curious: how did the ceremonies compare with those at Meadow Brook? Any suggestions for improvements?

Although the Ultimate Soccer facility was beautiful, it was a waste of money. In this difficult economy, with all the money being taken from public education, it seems ridiculous. We have three big, beautiful football stadiums that could house graduations. Didn't we just pay several million dollars to install fake grass? Why not use them? Yes, the scare of rain can be a concern, but is it that difficult to have an alternative day just in case? I believe this money would be better spent on education.
