State Sen. Jim Marleau has his blood pressure checked by MinuteClinic Nurse Practitioner Jeanette Jacobs at the Rochester Hills CVS MinuteClinic this week.

State Sen. Jim Marleau, a Lake Orion Republican, toured a local CVS MinuteClinic this week to get a glimpse at how the retail healthcare model is making medical services more accessible.

Marleau, who also represents Rochester and Rochester Hills, toured the Walton CVS in Rochester Hills. A nurse checked his blood pressure while he learned how the MinuteClinic model is helping to relieve increasing pressure on the state's health system. Marleau is the state's Senate Health Policy Chairman.

Marleau also offered his thoughts on the seasonal flu shot: "I believe in it, he said, according to a press release. "Get a flu shot."

The MinuteClinic is open seven days a week and no appointment is needed; it accepts most health insurances.
