Photo of the Day: Clinton River, Uncovered

The bridge has been completely removed from the Livernois Road stretch of the busy Rochester Hills intersection. Now comes the rebuilding.

From atop the foot bridge at Veterans Memorial Pointe park in Rochester Hills on Monday morning we captured the flowing Clinton River, without a bridge overhead.

It's a little bit of deja vu at the corner of Avon and Livernois roads in Rochester Hills.

Just as we saw in the spring with the Avon Bridge over the Clinton River, the Livernois Bridge at the same intersection is now gone. Work on replacement of the deteriorating bridge began June 9. It will continue through November, when a new and improved bridge is scheduled to be completed.

That bridge was also found last year to be in a state of disrepair. It was originally set to be rebuilt in 2014, then moved up to 2013. Recently, funds were available to make the project happen this year.

The road is closed at the intersection.

The detour route for Livernois through traffic will be Avon Road to Rochester Road to Hamlin Road and back to Livernois and vice versa.

good news. now more construction but at least they're making progress. Nice photo of the Veteran's Pointe sign. The gardens look great! We try to keep them watered but would you believe someone stole our sprinkler we were using to water? pretty sad.

We also water the gardens there, and we also noticed someone stole the original white water meter. It has now been replaced with a more permanent blue meter. Not cool to be stealing from a memorial.

Does anyone know why the right turn lane on Avon is still blocked with cones?

@Christopher - we are told by the Road Commission that they are awaiting installation of a guard rail at the corner. We're waiting to hear an ETA .... will post an update as soon as we know.
