Inside a historic art gallery in downtown Rochester, women and families are learning about the power of a "peaceful" birth.

Janice Weaver, owner of Peaceful Birthing, has opened a location inside the Cary Art Gallery on Walnut Boulevard. Weaver uses HypnoBirthing to help women ease pain and fear during pregnancy and birth; through Peaceful Birthing she offers classes on natural family planning, cloth diapering, natural hospital birth and baby care.

"Birth is a beautiful, natural function of a woman’s body," Weaver stated in a press release about the business expansion. "But when women are afraid or unsure of childbirth, it can get ugly."

Peaceful Birthing has added HypnoBirthing educator Natalie Fuoco to the staff. Weaver is working with Fuoco and Dr. Kathy Whitmore of Health & Healing Chiropractic to bring a free-standing birth and family wellness center to Rochester.

A perfect building for Peaceful Birthing. Sounds like a fine addition to our downtown. How I would have loved to have a comforting place like this many years ago when I was experiencing child birth the old style "give the mother lots of drugs so she feels no pain" medical practice.

June, thank you for your comment and boy do I wish I had a $1 every time someone told me about a birthing experience that was less than satisfactory for them. I am so blessed to be able to work with expectant families and share education & options so that they can build the perfect birth for them. We are really entering into a time that families have many options for birth and as long as they find out what they are, the result is connected families feeling empowered and satisfied! And yes, the building is incredible, I am such a romantic for history, I love being there.
