Man Robbed by Police Impersonator in Rochester Hills

Victim says the suspect shouted "police, get on the ground" before taking his cash and identification.

A man impersonating a police officer robbed another man early Sunday morning as he was walking in the 300 block of Woodside Court in Rochester Hills.

According to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report, the victim said he was approached just after 1:30 a.m. by a man who shouted "police, get on the ground," and then "I have the 215 suspect" as he pretended to talk into a radio.

When the victim got on the ground, the man stole his cash and identification card before fleeing on foot, the report stated.

Sheriff's deputies used a K-9 unit to attempt to track the suspect, who was not found. The victim was not injured and the incident remains under investigation.
