Three Go Forward: Adams, Stoney, Rochester Advance to Regional Cheer Meet (WITH VIDEO)

Falcons take first place in district competition Saturday.

There will likely be nonstop cheering — literally — across town this week as all three Rochester high schools advance to regional competition next Saturday.

Rochester High School took the top spot in district action at Lake Orion; the host team took second, and Stoney Creek and Adams high schools ended in third and fourth places respectively.

"It's like winning a million dollars, finally," said Adams Coach Courtney Kezlarian. Adams was in fifth place entering the final round of the competition. Their final score topped fifth-place finisher Troy by less than half a point.

The top four finishers advance.

"We've finally gotten the monkey off our back," said Falcons coach Susan Wood, whose team holds the record for the most state titles. Wood said they have struggled in the past year mentally, but she said they are finally in a place where they are ready to win.

Stoney Creek won the state title in 2010 and the Oakland Activities Association title last week.

Here are the final scores from Saturday's district competition:

Rochester 808.3256
Lake Orion 806.2360
Stoney Creek 802.0768
Adams 792.1384
Troy 791.7992
Eisenhower 782.2256
Troy Athens 765.6860
Utica 736.4992
Clarkston 729.4332
Waterford Mott 703.3066
Royal Oak 683.2136
