It's Time to Rock! Avon Players Present School House Rock Live Jr.! This Weekend
The show will take place at the Avon Players Theatre July 13 and 14.
41 students are busy putting together the Avon Players' production of School House Rock Live Jr.!, which will debut July 13 and 14 on the stage of the Avon Players Theatre.
The show is centered about Tom (played by Michael Berry), a teacher who is nervous for his first day of school. As he (and all the little voices in his head) prepare for school, the theater is filled with nostalgic Schoolhouse Rock songs.
In the weeks leading up to the performance, the students have completed workshops to prepare for their roles of acting, singing in the chorus and dancing in the production. They have also each created tye-dye T-shirts as part of their costumes.
"We have tried to make the entire experience very fun for the students and therefore have created a camp-like workshop feeling during rehearsals as compared to a high-stress rehearsal schedule," said John Deierlein, one of the show's directors.
The show is suitable for all ages.
"Kids will enjoy the high-energy and fun nature of the show and parents and other adults will remember these great songs that they heard on Saturday morning TV such as: I'm Just A Bill, Conjunction Junction and A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing, as well as many others," said Deierlein.
School House Rock Live Jr.! runs July 13 and 14 at the Washington Road theater. The performance on Friday begins at 7p.m..; Saturday performances are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
