Patch and EventTrender are searching for creative mantel ideas like this one.

Sue Keels and Angela Butorac are the hostesses with the mostest-es.

As director of sales and marketing at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Keels is constantly keyed in to elegance. Along with Butorac, an event planner from Sterling Heights, they produce a blog called EventTrender, filled with all things inspirational when it comes to entertaining, cooking and showing off your home.

For their latest project, they're hanging their stockings with care.

EventTrender is kicking off a contest today that seeks to find the most creative mantel in all the land.

Patch is partnering with the bloggers — and a $50 gift card, donated by Lowe's, is the prize.

Whether you use greenery or candles or simply a stocking or two, you'll have a chance of winning — and inspiring others with your creativity.

Here's how the contest works

  • Upload a photo of your most creative mantel here (click "add photos" and follow the prompts).
  • In the description, please tell us who you are and where you are from.
  • You have until midnight Dec. 22 to post your photo; the winner will be chosen at random from a random drawing, and after, we'll have a gallery of mantels to show off!
  • You can also post your photo on the EventTrender Facebook page. Regardless of where you enter, all of the entries — on that Facebook page and on Patch, will be combined and a random winner will be chosen.

Need help?

EventTrender offers several tips and a gallery of photos to help get you started.

“Remember what’s old is now new – add childhood photos of Christmas past or fill shadow boxes with vintage holiday cards and tinsel,” the blog states.

Happy decorating!
