Hospitalized Grandma Missed School Musical, So Kids Bring Music to Her
Paul Coutilish and his friends in the Rochester Hills Barbershop Society serenade patients at nearby Crittenton Hospital.
Open heart surgery prevented Gladys Schell of Rochester Hills from seeing her grandson, Paul Coutilish, perform in a recent Rochester High School musical.
So Paul and his friends brought a little music to her.
This week a group of eight student performers — all members of the Rochester Hills Barbershop Society, an after-school club formed at their high school — visited Schell in her recovery room at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center.
They performed two songs in Schell,'s room before strolling through the halls to serenade other patients and hospital staff.
Paul's mom, Teresa Coutilish, said the group is working on a potential service project for next year that would allow them to perform regularly for patients.
