Help This Patch Reader Find A Way Home

With many of the town's main roads under construction, one reader is struggling to get from Point A to Point B. Can you help?

A Rochester Patch reader is facing perhaps the most congested commute there is in Rochester and Rochester Hills these days.

The reader writes:

"I work at M-59 and Crooks and live off of Tienken east of Rochester. With Crooks, Livernois, and Rochester Road all under construction, I am struggling to find a way home.

"Any suggestions?"

It's true: there's work ongoing on Rochester Road (the Main Street Makeover), Livernois Road (the Clinton River Bridge) and Crooks Road (widening and resurfacing around Hamlin Road). Although Crooks will reopen later this month, the other projects aren't expected to wrap up until November.

Many of us have been there, done that. So, without sending this person through the quiet neighborhoods that are marked "No Through Traffic," and without more grumbling about the road work, which is inevitable, can you suggest the best route?

Suggestion: Hamlin to Ryan, turn left. Ryan to 23, turn left. 23 to Dequindre, turn right. Dequindre to Tienken, then home! You could also opt for bicycle commuting and ride the Clinton River Trail and Paint Creek Trail to and from work. It's a great feeling!

4.5 miles @ 25 minutes according to Google maps. That's pretty good. I would bike to work in Romeo every day if it weren't 13.5 miles one way! My only other suggestion is take M59 west to Squirrel north to Walton East to Ludlow to circle around the whole thing and take advantage of stop lights.

I do this: M-59 west to Adams, Adams to Tienken, Tienken east. Effectiveness may change now that it's after Labor Day and everybody is back to work. I've done the reverse in the morning and it can get congested on Adams between Avon and Hamlin. Alternative has been Tienken to Livernois, Livernois to Hamlin, Hamlin to Crooks south.

On way home just reverse the trip. Traffic is heavy between Hamlin and Tienken on Adams during rush hours, but does keep moving along.

What about taking M-59 to Dequindre, then north to Tienken?
