Get Out: Here's What's Going On This Weekend

It's Thursday and you've got no idea what you're doing this weekend. Don't worry, Patch is coming to the rescue

 

1. For Everyone: Three Plays To Choose From
Where/when: The Wizard of Oz at Adams High School; 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. On Golden Pond, Avon Players Theatre; 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Ding Dong, Meadow Brook Theatre; 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and both 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Why go: The three diverse plays in town right now offer something to entertain nearly everyone. There is The Wizard of Oz for those who like nostalgia and music, On Golden Pond for those who crave drama and Ding Dong for the crowd who likes comedy.

 2.  For Girls Night Out: Social Stroll and Runway Show
Where/when:  Meadow Brook Hall, Friday from 6-8 p.m.
Why go: There will be mini makeovers by Chanel, wine, appetizers and dessert. Reservations are required; call 248-364-6263 to reserve your spot.
Pricing: $40

 3For Date Night: How about a Date Brunch Instead?
Where/when: Downtown Café, Saturday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Why go: You and your date can steal glances at each other over a good cup of coffee and some serious eats. The omelets are huge and chocked full of delicious ingredients, and there are always specials on the board worth ordering. Don’t miss the Michigan Pancakes if they are available – they are totally worth the calories. This café is intimate and the wait staff is accommodating, your coffee will always be full and hot.

 4. For Families: If You Give a Cat a Cupcake Storytime
Where/when:  Barnes and Noble, Saturday, 11 a.m.
Why go: Kids love this book series, and the story teller at Barnes and Noble is very good at using fun voices and makes the story so much fun for your kids to listen to.  While the kids are busy at storytime, parents can hit up the travel section to research a Spring Break destination or the craft section for ideas for a “staycation”.

 5. For Free: Adult Scrapbooking Craft
Where/when:  Michaels, Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon
Why go:  Calling all scrapbooking fanatics: Michaels will have a free event for adults this weekend. Crafty folks can use their supplies to make a cool shadowbox scrapbook page to take home.
