Cosi Out, Chipotle In by Year's End to Village of Rochester Hills
Mexican grill chain to open second restaurant in the city.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, known for its tray-sized burritos and cilantro-infused guacamole, plans to add a second Rochester Hills restaurant this year.
Chipotle will move into the Village of Rochester Hills outdoor shopping area in the space that was occupied by Cosi, confirmed Candace Leysen, director of marketing for the Village.
Cosi, the sandwich and coffee shop, closed last weekend. The nearest Cosi location to Rochester is in downtown Birmingham.
Chipotle features tacos, burritos and salads, all priced around $5. It is a popular dining destination on Rochester Road near Barclay Circle. That restaurant will remain open.
Leysen said the Village location would likely open by the end of the year, though she is uncertain of the date.
The Cosi-to-Chipotle change is one of two restaurant transformations in the works at the Village.
In May, Baja Fresh closed. Flat Top Grill is moving into the space occupied by Baja Fresh and California Closets. The create-your-own-stir-fry restaurant is expected to be open this fall, according to a sign posted on the building.

I am very sad that Cosi closed. What was the reason. The food was great!
