2 Men, Armed With Mallets, Rob Downtown Jeweler
Rochester Police say they stole three Rolex watches from Lucido's on Saturday.
Rochester Police are searching for two men who they say robbed a downtown Rochester jewelry store and got away with three Rolex watches on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at 2 p.m. at Lucido's Fine Jewelry, according to Rochester Police Chief Steve Schettenhelm.
The men came inside Lucido's from the rear alley entrance and walked to the front of the store, Schettenhelm said. "When asked if they needed assistance one of the subjects said they were just browsing," he said.
Then, one of the men took out a small mallet and broke out the top glass on a display case. They took three watches — described as "very high-end Rolex watches — and fled out the front door onto Main Street."
The men then ran through downtown: north on the sidewalk, east on Fourth Street and then back south on East Street.
According to Schettenhelm, they met up with a silver Dodge Charger near Third and Water streets. The vehicle was last seen near Elizabeth and University streets before fleeing Rochester.
Rochester Police were able to identify the vehicle, though.
"A very alert citizen noticed the Dodge Charger just prior to the larceny taking place," Schettenhelm said. "She was able to obtain a license plate number on the vehicle."
On Saturday night, Detroit Police found the vehicle. Investigators from the Rochester Police Department went to Detroit to follow-up on the case; they are continuing to search for the men responsible for the theft.
The men are described as:
- Male, early 20s, 5 foot, 5 inches to 6 foot; 120 pounds. Short black hair and scraggly beard; tall and thin.
- Male, early 20s, 5 foot, 5 inches to 6 foot; 150 pounds. Described as having a heavy build with a dark complexion.
