Stoney Creek Brings Home Volleyball City Cup

  • Name: Stoney Creek High School
  • School or league: Volleyball
  • Award: Varsity City Cup

Congratulations to the Stoney Creek High School varsity volleyball team for bringing home the Varsity City Cup this week.

We thank volleyball parent Deb Cagigal for her photos and summary of the event:

"On Tuesday night, four Rochester high school varsity volleyball teams competed for the annual City Cup championship.

"Every year the varsity and JV teams all meet at one high school and compete in a round robin tournament. This year's varsity host was Stoney Creek. The past two years they have used this event as a fundraiser for cancer research. This year, Stoney Creek chose to collect donations for the New Day Foundation (the same foundation their football team used for their Charity Bowl football game). The New Day Foundation is an organization that provides assistance to families who have been affected by cancer.

"All four of the schools that competed (Adams, Lutheran Northwest, Rochester and Stoney Creek) wore pink t-shirts. The Stoney Creek team had their shirts designed with a special message on the back of their shirt 'In Honor of...' someone dear to them affected by cancer.

"In the end, Stoney Creek defeated Adams to bring home the Varsity City Cup. CONGRATULATIONS to Stoney Creek High School for hosting a very beneficial event and for WINNING the Cup!"
