“Rochester Junior Woman’s Club Will Be Raising Funds for Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Foundation, Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library and Leader Dogs for the Blind”

The Rochester Junior Woman’s Club (RJWC) recently announced that Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Foundation, Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library and Leader Dogs for the Blind will be the recipients for their 2012-2013 fundraising year.

Each spring the clubs Donations Committee reviews requests submitted by local organizations requesting assistance. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the club selects their annual recipients for their major fundraisers.

This year the club will be fundraising on behalf of The Crittenton Foundation - to support construction of a new patient tower for Crittenton Hospital Medical Center; the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library - to enhance the library’s early literacy efforts, and for Leader Dogs for the Blind – to provide Leader Dog’s to their clients.

The club has had a proud history of assisting many of the communities long standing organizations. They have been a dedicated supporter of the hospital for many years.  In addition to generous annual contributions to the Crittenton Auxiliary Camisole Program, they were active in funding the original Crittenton Hospital.  Also, the Rochester Hills Public Library was started with the support of RJWC members. The club has also provided donations and support to Leader Dogs for the Blind over the years.

The club is proud of the partnership with these three long standing community organizations and is looking forward to fundraising on their behalf over the next year. The first fundraiser will be the club’s 14th annual Lobster Boil which will be held on September 29, 2012 where live New England lobsters are flown in fresh and members of RJWC cook and wrap the lobsters and have them hot and ready as customers pick them up at the OPC drive-thru site.

The second event the club has planned to raise funds for the recipients will be held on January 26, 2013 at Meadow Brook Hall. The evening will include tours of the hall, a strolling gourmet dinner, music, dancing and a silent auction.  The club is also currently planning their annual “Spring Highlights” Luncheon and Shopping Boutique for March 23, 2013 at the Royal Park Hotel.

For over 50 years the Rochester Junior Woman's Club has contributed to the growth and vitality of the community through volunteer service and donation of funds to local charities and organizations. Since its inception, the Rochester Junior Woman’s Club has donated more than 1 million hours of community service and raised more than $760,000 to support the local community
