At the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education meeting on November 19, 2012 Mr. Gerald Moore submitted his letter of resignation from the Board of Education effective immediately. The Board has approved the following process and timeline to appoint a new trustee within the 30 day time period as required by law:
November 20, 2012 Applications are available on the district website or from the Superintendent’s Office, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI 48307
November 27, 2012 Interested applicants are invited to an informal overview of the roles and responsibilities of Board members at 6:00 p.m. in the Graham Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Administration Center, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI
November 30, 2012 3:00 p.m. deadline for turning in applications. Applications can be returned to the Superintendent’s Office, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI 48307 or emailed to Jennifer Berwick, Board president, jberwick@rochester.k12.mi.us
No applications will be accepted after 3:00 p.m. November 30, regardless of postmark date. To ensure receipt, please return application via email, fax or in person.
Applicants’ names will be posted on the homepage of the district website.
December 3, 2012 Community members are invited to attend an Open House to meet candidates from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the Harrison Room of the Administration Center, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI 48307. At 7:00 p.m. the Board of Education will interview all applicants at a special open meeting called for that purpose to be held in the Harrison Room of the Administration Center, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI 49307
December 5, 2012 The Board of Education will interview finalists applicants at a special open meeting called for that purpose to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Parker Conference Room of the Administration Center, 501 W. University, Rochester, MI 49307
December 10, 2012 The newly appointed Board Trustee will be sworn in and will take his/her seat at the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Harrison Room.
The appointee will serve a term which expires December 31, 2014. In November 2014, a Board member will be elected to serve the remainder of the term, which expires December 31, 2016.
