Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has been selected by his peers to serve on the Advisory Board for the United States Conference of Mayors.
At their recent 80th Annual Meeting held in Orlando, the United States Conference of Mayors appointed their 2012-13 Executive Committee. The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization for the 1,210 American cities with populations of 30,000 or more. The organization sets policy as the collective voice of municipalities and their leaders.
“This is an amazing opportunity for Rochester Hills,” said Barnett. “To be placed alongside city leaders from Dallas, New Orleans, Sacramento, and Philadelphia not only gives Rochester Hills a much stronger voice on the national stage, but we will help represent smaller communities with whom we share significant challenges and concerns."
As a member of the Advisory Board, Mayor Barnett has been selected to serve on two standing committees, the Community Development and Housing Committee, and the Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment, and Sports Committee.
The city was also recognized at the Annual Meeting for its extensive recycling program. Mayor Barnett was proud to accept the 2012 Climate Protection Award on behalf of the city.
“It has long been our goal to be a Green Leader, both in Michigan and on a national scale,” Barnett said. “This award places us in the top echelon of communities working to conserve resources and advance responsibility."
