Although many area school districts will offer only full day kindergarten programs beginning in the fall of 2012, Holy Family Regional School will continue to offer both full and half day options to parents. Since 2006, Holy Family has offered parents the choice of a full day or half day kindergarten experience for their child. Assistant Principal, Mrs. Carla Vandercruyssen, explained the school’s decision to continue both programs stating,”The interest and needs of our parent and student community have been the
catalyst for maintaining an option. Many parents who choose the full day curriculum for their child feel he or she is physically and emotionally ready for the length of a full day experience. Parents who select the half day program choose to supplement their child's experiences for the other half of the day in a variety of different ways. Often affecting a parent's choice of programs are personal beliefs, family circumstances, and care-giving needs. “

Holy Family kindergarten students in either program experience the spiritual, academic, physical, and social experiences that make up the complete kindergarten curriculum prescribed by the State of Michigan and the Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic Schools Office. The difference between the full day and half day program is in the extension activities that a child will experience at school. The curriculum of the full day student will be enhanced to include activities and experiences that reinforce the kindergarten objectives. “Both programs at Holy Family provide the people and curriculum to support
the needs and development of children. A parent can expect that their child will know the respect and
care of the faculty and staff who are with them throughout the day.”

Holy Family also offers a Young 5 program for children who are eligible for kindergarten but would benefit from an additional year of growth and development prior to beginning the kindergarten program.
