There are still many unique and exclusive gifts available from the Rochester-Avon Historical Society. Christmas is all about the memories past and present, so what better way to celebrate than to give the gift of local history.
The society’s popular 2013 calendar is $15 and features rare postcards images of historic Rochester. The society expects to sell out as there are only 50 calendars available. So get them while you can!
You can also pick up a computer mouse pad for just $7 with an image of the Detroit United Railway trestle that used to be where the South Hill Bridge is today. Or for $9 you can purchase the society’s brand new book by society member Deborah Larsen titled “Vanished Rochester.” The 44-page book highlights many of the area’s lost historic sites and is the second in the “Remembering Rochester” series.
Looking for a stocking stuffer? How about purchasing a one-year membership to the society. Memberships are just $10 for students, $18 for individuals and $25 for families. The gift of a membership supports the society’s mission to interpret, promote and preserve the Rochester area’s fascinating history through programs, lectures, research and more. The proceeds from the sale of each gift item also supports the society’s many initiatives which have garnered numerous accolades across Michigan and the Midwest.
These gift items and many more can be purchased at Lytle’s Pharmacy and Holland’s Floral in downtown Rochester or online at www.rochesteravonhistoricalsociety.org. Memberships can be purchased on the society’s web site.
