Downtown Pontiac's Lafayette Place Lofts Nears Completion, Accepting Tenant Reservations
The renewal of Pontiac’s historic Sears Building will offer upscale loft apartments, a fresh foods market and café, and an Anytime Fitness to the community.
Lafayette Place, a $19.8 million LEED Certified residential and commercial development, developed by West Construction Services and located in the historic Downtown Pontiac Sears Department Store, is now accepting tenant reservations for Lafayette Place Lofts.
"Pontiac has long been a place where artists and the creative community live and work," Kyle Westberg, president and CEO of West Construction Services, said. "With Lafayette Place Lofts we hope to attract additional pioneers who share our vision for sustainable, healthy urban living.”
Lafayette Place Lofts will consist of 46 new urban chic one and two bedroom rental lofts ranging from $675 to $1,295 per month. Upscale amenities include exposed brick walls, bamboo floors, open floor plans, historic large pane windows, granite countertops, upgraded appliances and brushed nickel fixtures. A rooftop urban oasis, secure indoor parking and the use of geothermal heating and cooling are also available. Small dogs and cats are welcome.
The development’s commercial offerings, available to both residents and the community include Lafayette Market, which will specialize as a fresh foods grocer and café, and the Anytime Fitness center.
Lafayette Place was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
Located in the city’s Commercial Historic District, the renovation of the 80,000 square foot structure is the largest construction investment in Downtown Pontiac in approximately 30 years. The development is geared for full completion by December, 2012.
