Broadway-Themed Concert Will Benefit Jarrell Children's Fund
The professional music ensemble Motif will join the Rochester community in trying to provide support to the three surviving children of Susan Jarrell, who died tragically recently leaving the young kids without either of their parents.
Motif will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at Adams High School in Rochester Hills.
The family of the Rochester area teacher, who taught French at both Stoney Creek High School and Hart Middle School, has created a memorial tribute fund to help support Caroline, Ellyn and Nicolas Jarrell. The children are students at St. Hugo of the Hills grade school in Bloomfield Hills and University of Detroit Jesuit High School.
Motif, which performs in venues statewide, features some of Detroit's finest young performers.
They will bring a touch of Broadway to Adams while performing some favorite show tunes from “The Lion King,” “Rent,” “Chicago,” “Hair,” “Grease” and many more.
“Our ensemble’s mission reflects that we are a home and a family,” states Motif co-founder Eric Swanson. “When we heard about what happened and that Ms. Jarrell was a Rochester teacher – we immediately wanted to dedicate a portion of our upcoming performance at Rochester Adams High School to her kids.”
“I am a teacher myself, including a wonderful time as Vocal Director for SMT (Rochester's summer music theatre program) and have always felt that teachers share a family bond with each other. In that spirit, we are reaching out to Susan’s children and to all the teachers who knew them and their mom to come to the concert and provide their support,” Swanson said.
In addition, the opportunity to make additional donations directly to the Jarrell family fund will be available at the Rochester Adams venue.
Motif is a Michigan based, professional music ensemble which performs a wide range of repertoire. With an emphasis on the musical theater and Broadway, Motif entertains its audiences statewide with performances in the areas of pop, opera, jazz and more.
