Band Receives 'A' Grades at Marching Band Festival
- School: Rochester High School
- Award: Marching Band Festival First Division
Congratulations to the Rochester High School marching band, which was awarded a First Division rating at a recent marching band festival.
Thanks to parent Barbara Brennan for these photographs and report:
"On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Falcon Marching Band participated in the MSBOA District 16 Marching Band Festival at Adams High School. The Falcon Marching Band was awarded a First Division rating from the panel of three adjudicators in the class AA division.
"The judges adjudicate the bands in the categories of Music, Marching, and General Effect Showmanship. Ratings range from First Division, which is a superior rating, equivalent to the grade of an “A,” to a Fifth Division. The band earned As in all nine subcategories.
"The Falcon Marching Band is directed by Timothy Nadeau, Senior Drum Major Maryssa Mercer and Assistant Drum Major Michaella DeRubeis.
"Marching Band Festival is a weeklong event across the state of Michigan, and a total of 40 bands from District 16 (which covers bands from all of Macomb and St. Clair counties and parts of Oakland County) participated. This adds up to more than 4,000 student musicians taking the field in competition."
